Thu 25 May-Sun 4 Jun - Thy Kingdom Come 2017

When: Thursday 25th May 2017 - Sunday 4th June 2017
Where: Everywhere

An invitation from the Archbishop of Canterbury

In 2016 the Archbishops of Canterbury and York invited parishes across England to join a great wave of prayer between Ascension and Pentecost.

The response was overwhelming. Hundreds of thousands joined the wave of prayer in churches of many traditions and denominations around England and around the world. What began as invitation in England started to look like the beginnings of a global wave of prayer for people to know Jesus Christ.

For 2017 the vision is even bigger. The Presidents of Churches Together in England are joining with the Archbishop of Canterbury and York to make the call to churches of all denominations in England, and Archbishop Justin Welby is sending out the call to every part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and the World Methodist Council to Methodist Churches worldwide.

The three aims are:
  • To join in prayer with the whole family of God the Father
  • To pray for the empowering of God the Holy Spirit
  • That we may be effective witnesses to God the Son, Jesus Christ.

1: This week we have released a very powerful film telling the story of how a young man was freed from the grip of addiction, due to the power of prayer. Please share widely, we want it to encourage as many people as possible.
Click here for the film and here for a Behind the Scenes video.
2: Pledge to Pray
On the subject of encouraging as many people as possible we really need people to register online to Pledge2Pray. Please ask as many individuals in your churches to register and please, please share with your international contacts. Each time someone signs up their light will appear on our website map. We want to light up the entire globe with the united voices of people calling out Thy Kingdom Come!
It’s really important that people register – during the eleven days of Thy Kingdom Come we will be sending bespoke videos and prayers to those who have signed up – again we want to support as many people as possible on their journeys of prayer.

3: Coming soon

At the beginning of May we will be launching our Let the Light shine social media campaign, asking Christians everywhere to post a photo or video of themselves holding a candle or tealight, and pledging to pray by registering at here. We'll have further details next week.

4: New Prayer Journal

Use it to sketch and scribble your thoughts, prayers and any answers as you go through the eleven days. It’s great for the young people in your life but adults will find it helpful too. You can either download the journal straight from our website  or why not order it for all the young people in your church – visit – it’s just £1, or 50p when buying in bulk.
