Doug Horley Training Seminar - 2pm to 4pm

"Worship for 21st Century Kids" – This workshop will not show you how to play the chord of G in 27 new ways! It’s for all children’s workers (musicians and non-musicians) and looks at the culture kids are growing up in, the influences they are exposed to, and how we can take note of these to ensure we stay relevant to our children in our praise and worship. It’s packed full of practical ideas for keeping our kids interest and includes a very practical "How to" section on leading worship. It also looks at using pop music in worship and making quieter songs work using British Sign Language. Doug has found this to be immensely powerful in worship with children (and grown-ups!) and you will leave the workshop having learned a sign language song or two!

Doug will talk about "Journeying with children" to help them go deeper with God in prayer and worship and he will share some stories of the kind of things he has seen happen as children connect with God. There will be time at the end of the seminar to pray for the children's workers - he just wants to see them refreshed and encouraged!

Fun, interactive, inspiring and very funky. Expect to enjoy yourself!!”

  £10 per person.

To book you place at the seminar please contact Chris Speller on 01793 826398 or email chris a_t bigbookcafe d_o_t co d_o_t uk

Doug Horley Praise party 6:00 - 7:30 pm - An event for all the family

Lead through by Doug Horley (Duggie Dug Dug) one of the UK's leading children's workers and writer of "We want to see Jesus lifted high", "Great great Brill Brill" and many other well known songs, it will be a colourful celebration that the children (and grown-ups!) will remember for years to come! Don't miss it!"

Tickets £2 each (everyone aged 2 and above) and are available from the Lighthouse Bookshop in Highworth or contacting Chris Speller on 01793 826398, email chris a_t bigbookcafe d_o_t co d_o_t uk

Some commonly asked questions about the event.

Q. Do adults need a ticket?

A. Yes everyone attending needs one - £2 each regardless of age 2 and above.

Q.  What about babies / toddlers?

A.  We can offer a concession of a free place for children under 2 but would need to know numbers in advance.

Q. Can I leave my child / do I as an adult need to attend.

A.  There is no childcare on offer, and all children need to be accompanied by a parent / guardian.

Q.  Will there be any refreshments available?

A.  These will be available at the end of the Praise Party.  We would encourage children not to eat or drink during the Praise Party as this can be distracting as well as potentially messy.

Q.  Is there a limit to the number of tickets?

A.  Yes, 120 tickets are available.

Q.  Where can I find the Methodist Church in Highworth.

A.  Address: Lechlade Rd, Highworth, Swindon, SN6 7HG
Highworth Methodist Church is located on the junction of Lechlade Road and Vicarage Lane. It should be noted however, that there is no access by car from Lechlade Road, as Vicarage Lane is a one-way street and there is no entry from Lechlade Road. Instead, motorists should access the church from the High Street.

Q. Is there any parking at the venue?

A.  There is no parking at the church, please park in the public car parks, either in the Market Square / Brewery Street.
