World Sport Ministries brings you their latest news from the past two busy months.
"What a few months it has been with wonderful opportunities to impact people for Jesus through the relevant and powerful tool of sport".
Here are some of the highlights, to praise God for:
Kenya Growth and fruit - July was an active month in the life of WSM Kenya. The Nairobi based leaders traveled to Kimilili, Western Kenya on 17th to train 38 Pastors from 4 different districts in sports ministry for the first time. The day after some church leaders went to play football on the local field and reached locals with 5 people coming to know Jesus! Nearby in Bungeria a further 100 churches were exposed to training from the 16th-18th. Read more
School Games - Six schools, 650 children and 50 teachers were impacted with a great programme and curriculum during WSM Bristol and Bath's School Games project. Volunteers from local churches served faithfully as the gospel was shared in school. Read more This programme will now be rolled out in many areas with different partners throughout 2011 and into 2012 with churches tapping into the fever of the 2012 Games hosted here in the UK.
Bath Adult Football Tournament - Having piloted the event in June, WSM Bath hosted 'Kick Off', a new adult 5-a-side football tournament on 29th July where 4 teams of believers bringing friends, enjoyed a great night of football and faith with half way through testimony. Relationships between Christians and their guest friends were further enhanced during this night. Read more
Schools Ministry - The coaching ministry that transcends WSM Bristol and Bath finished the school term by blessing and reaching over 1,500 children in close to 30 schools.
London Adult 5-a-side - WSM Newham staged their first adult football tournament with a 5-a-side outreach with 5 teams representing various churches battled it out on the 2nd August. Referee Mark Blythe shared his faith to all players who were challenged to follow Jesus. Read more
Summer Sports Camps - 8 camps over 4 weeks in 4 different areas witnessed over 300 different children attend these multi activity day camps. Spirit led curriculum's were written to help reach and disciple children from the Bath, Bristol and Frome communities. A great mentoring programme of 25 Young Leaders was also active within the camps. Lives changed with over 100 children coming to Jesus.
The autumn is a busy time of development for WSM with church partnerships, staffing, fund raising and planning towards winter and 2011 events. More than Gold is the churches response to the 2012 Olympic Games in London and WSM are serving as part of the partnership with lots to including promoting awareness meetings in 16 regions where they are hoping that churches would take the opportunity to 'join the race'.

- Wisdom in planning leadership training and development resources
- Follow through and discipleship of all those reached on above programmes
- Huge increase in finance to support new central staff and Community Sports Team leaders in new areas including Kenya
- A new central office in the Bath area
- Increase in church partnerships in Bath, Bristol and Newham to help reach these communities
- Wisdom, favour and provision as More Than Gold seek to get sports mission on the church agenda before, during and after 2012.
