EAST AFRICA
CRISIS

east africa appeal
Drought, high food prices and failed harvests have left 10 million people in East Africa on the brink of disaster.

Please give now to save lives.

You may have heard about the urgent support needed for South Sudan as the new country is established.

Today the Disasters Emergency Committee*, of which Tearfund is a member, has launched an appeal for the growing crisis in the wider East African region.

£50 will help Tearfund reach people in the worst affected areas.

In Ethiopia alone, it's estimated that up to half a million cattle have died this year.

Imagine if you lost your job and all your savings... That's what it's like for an African family to lose livestock - often their main source of food and income.

You can help. Please respond with us.

Tearfund has local partners responding in the region. For more than 20 years we have helped local churches to build the resilience of their communities to become food secure. We need to act now to help families who are in desperate need today.

One of Tearfund's partners is involved in emergency relief efforts in Kenya, and - with your support - we plan to do the same in Somalia and Ethiopia as well as helping communities in the long term.

Please give what you can and pray today - this will help to provide urgent relief and strengthen the long-term resilience of local churches and their communities.

Thank you,

Robert Schofield
Disaster Management Director
