"Food Appeal Collection" for The Matthew Tree Project

the mathew tree project

Volunteering Opportunity at Asda Cribbs Causeway to conduct a "Food Appeal Collection" for The Matthew Tree Project on Monday 12 September 2011.

The Matthew Tree Project, a recently opened Foodstore in Stokes Croft, Bristol over the summer provided food to the children of Cabot Primary School in St Paul's who are on free school meals (whilst the school has been closed for the summer holiday). We gave food to 29 different children from 14 different families which by their own admission was a real 'life saver' for them. This equated to 565 meals. We are now preparing to open to a wider audience to accept anyone who is in emergency need and is going hungry. Hence, we have a real and immediate need for more food so we can continue this vital ministry. It is also worth noting that the relationships we are developing with the mothers of the children from Cabot School is hugely significant and will enable us to support and help them going forward in all their trials and tribulations as their children grow and develop. This is all about addressing the route causes of poverty, breaking the cycle of poor children becoming poor adults, and is the vision that God gave us being played out in reality and is such a blessing for everyone involved. God's hand is moving in a truly amazing and powerful way and for this we give Him all the glory and praise.

And we really need your help!

This will be our second Asda food appeal collection and we need volunteers on Monday 12 September 2011. Last time we received over 1 tonne of food! We are organising the volunteer teams into 3 shifts. Morning, afternoon and evening. The shift details are given below:
