Charles Eisenstein

Arnolfini, 8.30-10pm, Tuesday 18th June
£7.50 or £6.75 concessions
(NB In an unusual piece of scheduling, there's an event beforehand with Richard Branson appearing on video. Apparently it's not a deliberate double bill, just when they both happened to be available. An interesting juxtaposition...!)

Charles Eisenstein is the author of The Ascent of Humanity and Sacred Economics, amongst others, and a proponent of the gift economy. He's a bit amazing - has a brain the size of a planet and a heart the size of another one. It's pretty amazing that we get to have him come here to Bristol.

We assume human wants are unlimited, that people prefer to gratify their desires sooner rather than later, that human needs (and indeed everything real) are quantifiable. These assumptions extend their influence far beyond economics. Charles will explore where they came from, and what the world might look like when they shift.
Charles Eisenstein is a teacher, speaker, and writer focusing on themes of civilization, consciousness, money, and human cultural evolution. David Korten says Eisenstein is “one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time.”
