Get Sported Camp Update
Over the May Half term holiday twenty three children came to join us for some sporty fun at the Park. The children learnt how to seize opportunity that they are offered, change their perspective (allowing God to transform the way they look at things) and how to be strong and courageous by the power of the Holy Spirit. It was a great couple of days and we saw children develop boldness in praying for the first time in front of their group. Just under half of the children who attended camp took our Sports NT bibles away. God has also been working in the lives of our Young Leaders. For a more detailed report Click Here
Cricket Tournament - June
On Saturday 9th June four teams competed for the NCCF 2013 trophy at Fry Club in Keynsham. Teams experienced a great day in the sunshine. In an exciting final, last year’s winners, All Nations London were the team to beat and they came up against tough opposition from tournament regulars St. Thomas Church, Sheffield, Bath City Church and WSM Bristol. We were grateful to WSM's Iain Nash, for sharing how Sport and his faith in Christ Jesus has gone hand in hand over his life. Iain shared how God had blessed him with sport as a way overcome life’s difficulties and shared just how much God had blessed him through to coaching children and working full time in sports ministry for WSM. Congratulations to Bath City Church on their victory, and well done to Chris Fletcher of WSM Bristol who won the Best Batsman Award and Sharoon of All Nations London who picked up Best Bowler. A huge thank you goes out to all the teams who took part on what was a successful and special day – we look forward to seeing you all next year. To read a more detailed report Click Here
On Saturday 8th June Bristol ran their first fundraising Jumble Sale to raise money for Get Sported South Bristol in order to provide these deserving children with new equipment an to help deprived children get there who otherwise would not be able to. Rachael had done a bit of ground work and we were blessed with lots of donations of clothes. We also found a wealth of baking within our team and were provided with a vast array of mouth watering delights to sell. Several volunteers pitched up to help including three young leaders and a Get Sported mum. We welcomed members of the community. Get Sported families, friends and family of team members who were all eager to play the games, sample the cakes and spend some money to grab a bargain. Praise God that we raised a total of £99.93.
Fundraising for Sports Ministry Opportunity
On Sunday 15th September Iain is running the Bristol Half Marathon. Iain has an exciting opportunity to go to Orlando, Florida in November to be trained up, along with many others from around the world, on how to deliver the CYCAS (Community, Youth, Children & Sport) programme to churches and their leaders in their outreach. He needs your help: "I am raising money to go on this trip, and achieve a goal of being trained up to share with others what I love - God and Sport. I would love for you to be able to contribute by sponsoring me. You can do this online at: http:/www.bymycharity.com/orlandotrip
