Free online guide launched for viewers of THE BIBLE TV mini-series

Two of the largest Christian charities in the United Kingdom have teamed up to help everyone to join the conversation around the epic the bible10-hour Emmy Award-winning television mini-series THE BIBLE.

The five-part series, which has become a rating success on American television, premieres on Channel 5 this coming Saturday, 30 November at 9pm.

The Damaris Trust, working directly with Channel 5, has produced an Official Souvenir Guide to the series. This 24-page glossy, photo-rich book features articles and information on each episode, and explores the major themes such as choices and consequences, faith and life, forgiveness and transformation. This book is integrated with a state-of-the-art Augmented Reality technology so that when the photos are viewed through a smart phone or tablet the pictures turn into videos – so the reader can watch all of the video features on the pages of the book.

Now the Evangelical Alliance is offering free online resources which provide background biblical material linked directly to each of the discussion questions in this Official Souvenir Guide.  Both the Souvenir Guide and the background biblical resources are available at www.eauk.org/thebibleuk and the discussion will be encouraged through www.twitter.com/thebibleuk (#thebibleuk).

"THE BIBLE is for everyone, not just for Christians. So, all of us on THE BIBLE UK team are delighted that the Evangelical Alliance has provided such excellent background biblical resources that will help everyone to ‘join the conversation’ about discussion questions in the official souvenir guide," said Nick Pollard, co-founder of Damaris Trust – an educational charity which works with the film industry to create official community resources to accompany the latest feature film.

Krish Kandiah, executive director of churches and mission at the Evangelical Alliance, which has partnered with Damaris for THE BIBLE mini-series, described the series as a “fantastic opportunity for ordinary people in the UK to get a glimpse of the grand sweep of the story that has shaped the British culture”.

The series, produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, is the story of God's creation of the earth and the landmark events of THE BIBLE.

THE BIBLE is coming to Channel 5 from this Saturday, 30 November at 9pm, with a DVD and Blu-ray release following on 26 December.
