Permanent Foodbank Collection Box at Sainsbury’s East Filton

Sainsbury’s East Filton and North Bristol Food Bank are working in partnership to help families in the local area by setting up a permanent donation point in the store.
From 27th May customers will be able to leave donations that will go to help local families. Colleagues from the store will also volunteer at the Food Bank sorting the donations. Angela Newman from Sainsbury’s said “We do work with the local food bank at least twice a year where customers can donate food items but feel that we would really like to help more in the community. Having a permanent donation point in store means we can help this worthy cause all year round. Our colleagues are also keen to volunteer and give something back to the local area”

Stewart North, “North Bristol Foodbank fed 2808 people during the last financial year 2013/14 and continued to sadly see an increase in the number of people who have been referred to this local foodbank. We now partner with 103 different care professional organisations who refer clients to the foodbank. We are so grateful for the support of local people who regularly donate food to the Foodbank and are so encouraged to see this new permanent Foodbank collection point at Sainsburys Filton store”
