WSM Bristol Newsletter‏ June 2014

wsm newsletter jun14 top

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. The sun has been out and shining a lot this month and when showers appeared at Pentecost it was such an amazing afternoon we enjoyed the rain and sudden dash for our tent. We are really enjoying watching the World Cup and wonder where you have been able to catch the games.

Get Sported Summer Camp
It is that time of year again we are praying, planning and believing for 60 children to join us for the first week of August. We will be enjoying 4 great sporty days with children from 9 local schools. We are continuing to pray for more sense of the spirit covering camp. We are also praying for 4 volunteers from our local churches and from our friends and family. If you are passionate about Jesus and want to spent some time with us and some amazing children please email for more information. We are looking for adults to give children undivided attention, chat with, shepherd and help us give them the best time on camp.

Citywide Overnight Prayer Vigil
Akeel and Phil from Christian Surfers shared the stage at 2:30am at the Citywide Overnight Prayer Vigil, St Stephens Church, to showcase their vision, future opportunities and stories on how God has been moving in Sports Ministry. It was to be a full night of worship and prayer starting in the Cathedral, followed by a prayer walk around the outside of City Hall, around College Green and finally the Waterfront while covering our city and nation in prayer.  By 3:30am they were still going strong and many stayed until 6am the next morning. We always know to expect the unexpected and while waiting for our spot we had an opportunity to share Jesus with a law student who was on his way home. This young man joined the team in church and before he left gave his life to Jesus!

We were really excited to be part of the afternoon celebrations on College Green with the Arise Team. We held court in the Sport sphere tent and had an opportunity to share with Bristol God's vision for sport and extreme sports in the city on the centre stage. It was encouraging to see 80% of the audience raise their hands to show they were interested in sport. Between torrential rain we manned an information table and an obstacle football course which proved popular with the children and adults despite the torrential rain. The day was massively blessed with a full Cathedral for Evensong. 600 'Committed to LOVE this City to Life' wristbands were given away to everyone who attended the afternoon. We are really look forwarding to witnessing what God has in store for Justin Welby's Standing Room Only on September 12th.

* Please pray for the Young Leaders who gave their hearts to Jesus this month and that God will continue to water and develop their faith; that their experience would help transform lives of the rest of the team.
* Please pray for the planning and preparation of our Summer GET Sported. Pray that God would be preparing hearts and that the children who come will be impacted by Jesus.
* Pray that people from local churches and communities would be generous in giving their time and treasure to our camps and that they would be open to having an opportunity to encounter God in a new and exciting way.
Continue to pray for the WSM Bristol team as they come into a season of change. We are praying for like minded christians to come along side us, partner and pray with us so we can help them deliver sport in a new and exciting way in their church and community.
