Call to Prayer for the General Election
and the Nation

Dear friend,

Thursday 7th May 2015 will be a significant day in the life of this Nation as we head to the polling stations to vote for the next Government, our local Councillors and in some places for Mayoral candidates. The outcome of these elections will leave a legacy on this country for decades to come and polls suggest it will be very close to call. Daily and hourly polls keep changing who is in the lead. It is literally that close.

I am writing to you today as Christians, Church Leaders and Prayer Activists in this Nation to urge you to renew the call to prayer for the UK and the Government. I know many of you are already praying, but I believe we need to raise the bar in praying for God's Kingdom to Come and Will to be done, over these last 14 days of the campaign.

Arise, Shine for your Light has Come! These prophetic words from Isaiah 60 are relevant in this hour for the Church and Believers everywhere to stand up, show up and stand out so that the Lord can have His way with this nation.

We can no longer divorce our Faith from politics. It has been an encouragement to see the recent Church of England House of Bishops Pastoral letter to all its parishes, the launch of a Black Majority Church manifesto, The Christian People's Alliance activities, the Show Up project and political party leaders appearing on Church platforms in aid of their campaigns.

Therefore as a prophetic and poignant sign of the church's visibility, I am
urging you to join many others in London and across the nation for a 7.14 Election Prayer Surge on Wednesday 6th May 2015 right on Parliament Square at the very heart of the Capital in Westminster.

7.14 Election Prayer is a vision to see Christians of every denomination and none come together for an hour of prayer. For the WHOLE church, young and old, rich and poor, of every race, background and political persuasion to unite in seeking the Lord. Not inside and out of sight,  behind four walls and unseen...but outside! Yes, in the public square! a city on a hill, a light on its stand!

So, on the eve of the General Election, we will gather at...

Show Up Prayer
Dear Father God,

In the Name of Jesus; We pray that Your Kingdom Come and Your Will be done in the United Kingdom. We ask that you forgive us our sins of omission and comission as a nation and as individuals. Bless every part of our society and release your justice, wisdom, peace and love as we prepare to elect our leaders.

Build up your Church Lord to be the Light of this Nation. Cause your people to be agents of change in all spheres and in the arena of politics and government. We ask that you would inspire and give passion to your church to love this country as you do.

Help us to engage locally and nationally to shape and redeem our communities. Enable us to show up and take our part in meeting the needs of the people irrespective of colour, culture, class or creed. Enable us to bring renewal and blessings to villages, towns and cities across these Isles.

To You be all the glory, power and praise. Amen
