What a busy time of year but also a real time to rest and enjoy His peace and Joy. It is a real time of celebration – just as the face of the young boy on the photo is one of joy and accomplishment the moment of getting a wicket in a cricket match. As we think of the real meaning of Christmas the joy that it brings having a saviour who was born and accomplished the greatest mission of all time. We also look back at a fantastic year to see how God has drawn more of His children to himself and we have seen changed lives.

latest score camps

Our recent half term camps reached record numbers of children and young leaders. It was a fantastic time as we celebrated the rugby world cup. The curriculum was entitled ‘Humility that leads to Victory’ and was based around the story of David and Goliath. Each of the days on GET Sported and GET serious cricket camps were themed around a different character quality each day including ‘humility, confidence and being trustworthy.’
It was brilliant helping the children discover God’s love and protection through the story. Here is a quote from a 7 year old boy:  “When you’ve got God with you, you lose all your biggest fears”
We had record numbers of young leaders on camp this time. Almost over four per group of children. It was a great time of mentoring and introducing them to their roles on GET Sported. We had a huge number of ‘first-time’ young leaders who fitted in and impacted their groups of children, growing in their confidence and leadership.

total coaching

Our Total-coaching model has had a bit of a make-over. Our simplified model (below) shows the five core elements of what we aim to achieve through our coaching – impacting a child ’emotionally, socially, mentally, physically and at the centre spiritually.’ The key element of total coaching is coaching the ‘whole child.’ We aim to instil valuable life skills in children and open up opportunities to share the gospel through our coaching sessions. A child’s heart is revealed when they’re playing whether in the playground of on a sports field. The way they react/respond to certain situations is a direct correlation to what’s going on in their heart. Through our total coaching we aim to bring out the best in a child, helping they reach their full potential as well as helping them discover the one who created them. TESTIMONY:

global ministry

There have been HUGE stepping stones made in the world of sports ministry through the global sports movement. In November the global toolkit was launched at a huge gathering of 625 people from 127 nations across the globe. The ‘Ready, Set, Go’ toolkit in which WSM have had a part in helping shape and write resources for has been released to help people make disciples for Christ through the world of sport. It is a phenomenal resource – more information can be found at http://readysetgo.ec. We look forward to 2016 to see how sports ministries partner together to train and deliver the ‘RSG’ training.

local national global

2016 is shaping up to be a big year with the Olympics and Euros. After a year of much internal changes, WSM’s strategy for 2016 includes focusing on the local to develop the national any international. We have a heart to develop at the hub of WSM in Bath their GET Sported camps, school sports coaching, Youth Sports leadership, men’s breakfast along with other events. The vision of WSM sees these events being coordinated by a central team – a Community Sports team who effectively aim to do ‘Matthew 19:28’ to make disciples. We aim to help start and support CSTs around the country and globally. We have teams in Kenya, Bangladesh and Pakistan who are all doing amazing work for the Kingdom.
