Free Garth Hewitt Concert organised by Kairos Bristol

garthhewittOn Tuesday 24th May, the Kairos Bristol Community will be hosting a free concert by the renowned troubadour and gospel singer Garth Hewitt at Trinity-Henleaze United Reform Church on Waterford Road, Henleaze, Bristol BS9 4BT, beginning at 7.00pm.

The concert will focus on Garth’s experiences in Palestine. The author of ten books on spirituality, social justice and the arts, Garth has spent his entire adult life singing about justice and working for the oppressed. Over a forty-year career, he has released almost forty critically-acclaimed albums.

In 1985, Hewitt founded the Amos Trust to raise awareness of the injustice he had witnessed on his travels. The Trust promotes justice and hope for forgotten communities by creating partnerships with local projects across the planet, including working with street children in South Africa, promoting human rights and sustainable communities for Dalits in rural India and promoting community development and education in Nicaragua.

Garth Hewitt’s 2014 book Occupied Territories provides a personal, passionate and honest examination of the struggle of the Palestinian people, a struggle with close parallels to that in South Africa during the 1980s.

In addition, for over twenty-five years Garth has served on the board of directors of the Christian Greenbelt Festival,. He is also a canon of St George’s Anglican Cathedral in Jerusalem, an associate priest at St Clement’s Church, Eastcheap in London, patron of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and a regular contributor to BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought.amos logo-full
