Bristol Housing Festival: Re-Imagining Better Ways to Live in our Cities

Website: www.bristolhousingfestival.org.ukBHFLogo
Myself and Jessie Wilde are working with Jez Sweetland in the delivery of an exciting launch event in the City of Bristol. The launch will announce the beginning of the Bristol Housing Festival which will run for the next five years focused on building new communities across the city.
We are passionate about seeing communities thrive and develop around Christian values and we see housing as a key platform for building healthy communities. Thriving homes requires more than just the bricks and mortar, and so rethinking the approach to developing housing taking into consideration well-being, mental health, loneliness, isolation, community building, intergenerational communities, to mention just a few are the highest priority to us.
To reimagine Britain we must reimagine housing. The first form of reimagining is to reclaim the purpose of housing. Housing exists as a basis for community and community exists for human flourishing. Building new housing without clear community values and aims will lead to the same problems being repeated again and again in the future. - Archbishop of Canterbury - Most Rev Justin Welby Reimagining Britain, Foundations for Hope
The idea was birthed from a God inspired idea reimagining what a city might look like if it’s people came together to believe what might be possible through innovation so that our city flourishes.
What started as a dream has now become a reality and we will be celebrating the festival by showcasing concept houses and scale models for just over two weeks on the Waterfront Square in Bristol city centre.
Having already seen God do what others thought impossible, we strongly believe that His Spirit is breathing on this project and gathering people from all walks of life together to celebrate community. There is a window of opportunity here for the church to influence what our future together might look like and recreate community around Christian values.
For this reason we are making an appeal to you for support in two ways:
Through prayer as we seek God’s guidance - if you would like to receive monthly prayer points please add your name to the list here:
To help us on site from the 19th October to the 4th November. Each day we will need volunteer teams of people to be a welcoming face and to love the people of our city. We think it’s a wonderful opportunity to be like leaven and be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve our city and show love to the people that come to visit the site. Are you able to help us spread the word about this volunteer opportunity?

If you know anyone that might be willing to volunteer on site, the sign up sheet is available here: http://signup.com/go/xNKJRVn
Thank you so much for your encouragement, prayer and support.
If you have any questions, thoughts or would just like to talk further with us about the Bristol Housing Festival - please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you and would be delighted to chat to you more about this.
We would be grateful for any support you can offer to help to make this a launch a success.
Many blessings,
Jez, Jessie, Paul and the BHF team
