Bristol Mayor Homes for Veterans Skydive

marvinOn Saturday 10th November the Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, will be taking part in a sponsored skydive alongside 99 others.

The aim is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, and at the same time to raise awareness of the many ex-servicemen struggling with homelessness.

As the largest provider of dedicated accommodation for former serving military personnel outside of London, the charity Alabaré has 124 beds in homes varying in size from 3 to 8 bedrooms across South England and Wales.

Each of the homes focuses on enabling the Veteran of all ages to overcome issues that have led them to become homeless.

Many have been impacted by their time in the Military and need a wide range of support to enable them to transition from the Army, Royal Navy or RAF into civilian life.

The support may include help to overcome issues around mental ill-health, transfer skills from Military to civilian employment, secure housing and learn to integrate into society.

alabareAlabarés approach includes building confidence, teaching life skills such as budgeting and giving a sense of value and purpose to Veterans who feel they have lost this.

Do support Marvin as he takes part in this amazing event, every pound donated will make a difference in the lives of those who have served this country well but are now struggling.
