The Climate Sunday initiative is calling on all local churches across Great Britain & Ireland to hold a climate-focused service on any Sunday before COP26 (November 2021). So far over 1,000 churches have joined in, could your church add its voice this year?
The vision is to leave a lasting legacy of thousands of churches better equipped to address this critical issue as part of their discipleship and mission and to make a significant contribution to civil society efforts to secure adequate national and international action at COP26.
The collective action and commitments from local churches across Great Britain & Ireland will be presented to UK Government at a Nations' Climate Sunday Service in Glasgow on Sunday 5th September 2021. Sign up to watch the service online.
What Church Leaders can do? Hold a climate-focused service to explore the theological and scientific basis of creation care and action on climate, to pray, and to commit to action. Explore the www.climatesunday.org for inspiration and worship resources to suit all church traditions. Don’t forget to register your service!
What Congregations can do? Make a commitment as a local church community to taking long term action to reduce your own greenhouse gas emissions. Join one of the existing programmes such as Eco Church.
What individuals can do? Why not gather some people together to watch the Nations’ Climate Sunday Service, and see how your commitment is part of the bigger picture. Sign up to watch the service online.
And finally as Christian Action Bristol, we’ve gathered together a page full of resources, events and videos to help church leaders, home group leaders and individuals. We will be updating it as we head towards COP26 and beyond.
