Leadership at the Threshold

2 December 2025

For leaders shaping unity and transformation in our towns and cities
If you're involved in church, charity, or city-wide mission, this day is for you.
Designed for those leading local movements or working on the ground in urban settings.
“In such a fast-changing and increasingly spiritually open world, the leadership of God’s Church is at a threshold moment. Old certainties are dying, and the new normal has yet to be formed. How, then, shall we lead in our communities, towns, and cities? What is now required of us?”
Paul and Sarah Williams will open up this subject from a biblical, historical, cultural and missional perspective.

Guest Speakers:
  • Prof Paul Williams, CEO, Bible Society
  • Dr Sarah Williams, Church Historian and Author

Hosted by:
Steve Jones (Oxford Community Church) & Roger Sutton (Gather Movement)
Venue: Oxford Community Church
Date: Tuesday 2 December 2025
Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm

“The system is very easy for our media team to implement into our existing setup and operate.”
— Ramp Church, Manchester

“When we used Streamlingo for the first time, a member of our congregation came to us after the service. He is Iranian and was moved to tears. After three years in our church, he was finally able to understand the sermon.”

Big Church Read - Bear Grylls ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told’

As Gather Movement, we love to talk about the spiritual transformation of our places, which normally includes things like sharing our faith. But when working across denominations and church streams, it can be a challenge to know exactly what that should look like!

But every now and again a resource comes along that a host of churches can get behind. In June, Gather Movement were involved in helping Bear Grylls launch his new book, The Greatest Story Ever Told, that re-tells the story of Jesus from five perspectives. The book, which hit the UK bestseller list, has been as engaging for those outside the Church as well as those within. His interview with Chris Evans about the book went viral!

Now many unity groups are preparing to join in with the Big Read which is using Bear’s book with bespoke content. Andy Frost, with the Gather team, is also exploring some live events with Bear at church unity groups starting with churches in Bournemouth this November.

Join together in your place for a Harvest meal focused on social justice

There's still time to have a look at our latest Harvest resource Trussell tables with ideas to inspire your unity movement to come together with your local churches and wider community, and wrestle with the injustice of hunger in the UK.
Use a Harvest meal as a way to celebrate the compassion shown by your local churches, and together continue to support your local food banks or emergency food providers. Go deeper, and encourage people to explore and call for social justice. Invite your churches into conversation and to join in with our work towards a future where we can all afford life’s essentials – and no one has to depend on a food bank to survive.

Tearfund Afghanistan Earthquake Appeal

⚠️Two earthquakes have hit Afghanistan. The first was on Sunday 31 August; an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 in eastern Afghanistan, leaving more than 1,400 people dead and 3,000 reported as injured. A second earthquake hit the region on Tuesday 2 September.
Many villages have been completely destroyed and roads have been blocked by landslides. In some places, people are having to dig their relatives out of the rubble with their bare hands.
Tearfund is a Christian charity coordinating with partners in eastern Afghanistan to respond and offer relief to the people affected.
Please donate to save lives and help people devastated by the earthquake: www.tearfund.org/afghanistan
